“Dragonfly”
I created this piece as a way to practice more with watercolors. I like how the colors can flow easily and how they blend together; watercolor paintings come out looking smooth. I chose a dragonfly as my subject because they are one of my mom’s favorite creatures and I thought that watercolors would be a good medium to use because of how vibrant and colorful dragonflies are.
This is actually the second dragonfly watercolor I have created. The first one was a sort of a practice to become more familiar with watercolors. The colors weren’t as vibrant as I wanted and the colors ran a bit too much. I was still fairly proud of the finished piece, but I knew I could have done better.
This piece will be up for auction at the Deerfield Arts Exhibition Night that will take place Winter 2018 as part of mine and Autumn Erickson’s Senior Project.
