Raising your plant: Raising plants is a rewarding pastime and can be more gratifying than raising real children. Aloe Vera is a versatile house plant with many different uses, it is by far the niftiest plant you could own. When growing an aloe vera plant, it should be kept fairly dry because it is a succulent. Like cactus, aloe vera like dry conditions, it's best to plant your aloe in cactus potting soil and have good drainage. Aloe vera needs lots for light so it's best to place it in a south or west- facing window. Water your aloe vera plant only when the soil is completely dry.
When your Aloe vera plant has outgrown it's pot, it will produce baby plants or pups that will grow off the main plants roots, these pups are the best kind of unexpected babies. Babies may need more support if they are in a loose soil and won’t need a lot of water and need indirect light. Once these pups have reached about 3 inches or have developed their own root, it should be cut off from the main plant. The main plant should then be repotted into a larger pot with proper drainage.
Uses: When harvesting the Aloe from the plant, the leaf should be cut into sections and the inner clear gelation should be scooped out.
